Exponent / Power: A way to show repeated multiplication

Base (a): The number being multiplied

Exponent (n): How many times the base is multiplied

Power: The whole expression aⁿ (base raised to exponent)

Rules of Exponents:

• 1) Multiply powers with the same base: a^m × a^n = a^(m+n)
• 2) Divide powers with the same base: a^m ÷ a^n = a^(m-n)
• 3) Power of a power: (a^m)^n = a^(m×n)
• 4) Power of a product: (ab)^n = a^n × b^n
• 5) Power of a fraction: (a/b)^n = a^n / b^n
